You are Fired!
Mom and Dad are Fired from blogging!
Slackers….that’s what I think about Mom and Dad’s management of Luke and my blog.
I tell ya, we give them the honor to write on our blog, allowing us more time to play, and what happens? Nothing. 2….almost 3 months of no posts. That’s it, Luke and I are taking the blog back.
So here we go. To recap for you the past 2 months without writing a novel, I will give you the cliff-note version.
Baptism….went well…Luke took the plunge. Both sets of Grandparents were here. We ate Cake….I really like the cake, actually the frosting was my favorite.
We went on a plane ride, 4 to be exact, to North Carolina for Cousin Emily’s wedding. It was super fun! I got to dig in the sand, run from the waves, build sand castles, pick up shells, swim and eat lots of pizza. I really liked the hotel pizza, cheese to be exact. And yes, I danced the night away at the wedding. Luke was super excited to meet Heather and Leon and then Uncle Dan and Aunt Alisa.
We went to the lake. It rocked. I taught dad how to fish and Luke went for his first boat ride. He fell asleep….what a baby. We played with Grandma and Grandpa and Aunt Debbie, Uncle John and cousins Tyler and Mckenzie. I really like the lake. Mom and Dad said we'll go back this summer. So cool!
Luke is doing well. He loves to stand up and “talks” very loud. Mom says he is “all boy.” I sure hope so because he isn’t a girl.
Other than that, it’s been a great summer. We have been swimming, to the zoo and lots of parks. I can’t believe it’s July. Mom and Dad bought a house and we move next month. It’s a funny thing really, our landlord decided to sell the house we are renting so mom and dad literally went out the next day and bought a house. That’s kind of fast if you ask me! It’s pretty close to where we live now and supposedly my swing set is moving with us. Thank heavens!
Okay - off to play again.

Baptism....
A great quote from a great movie,
“It’s your lucky day to be baptized in the Greek Orthodox Church. Nikki is going to be your Godmother….” (My Big Fat Greek Wedding Movie) Why this scene pops in my head every time someone refers to a baptism, I don’t know. But let me say, it cracks me up every time!
So with that being said, Luke is be baptized this weekend….not in the Greek Orthodox Church, but the Catholic church. Hopefully this little guy doesn’t wail to loud. If he does I’ll claim he is merely “crying out to Jesus.” Well, one thing is certain, it will be entertaining. With a 2 and a ½ year old in attendance and a 4 month old, I can guarantee someone will be wet….Jeremy and I most likely. Madeline finds it entertaining dipping her entire hand into the water every time we are at church….I am convinced she will fall in one of these times. Oh well, it will make her extra holy! (a mother can hope, right?)
Latest updates on Luke from his 4 month appointment.
Height – 24 inches
Weight – 14 lb. 10 oz. Apparently he gave up on the quick weight gain and is following his sister’s footsteps now.
Jeremy dreams of a football player; a running back (I don’t really know what that is, but smile and nod as he talks about it). I say of course he can play football; he’ll be the kicker because they don’t get tackled as much. Jeremy just shakes his head in disbelief.
Madeline
Such a girlie-girl! We play with make-up, fingernail polish and dance classes….where she got this from I’m yet to know/understand. But what a sweetie. She went through a growth spurt over the past 2 months and grew 1-2 inches. Don’t worry, she is still the smallest 2 year old I know. We will upload some pictures for you soon. Oh yes, this 2 year old starts the day at 5:30 AM…..I’m hoping this is just aphase because she is cutting molars.
Okay – photos to come later and updates from our adventures. It sure has been crazy around here.

Shoo-Bug....
...let me tell you about Miss Madeline and her obsession with the "Shoo-Bugs."
Anything that resembles a bug is classically known as a "shoo-bug."
It's rather cute and hilarious.
As you may recall, there were not many critters in Denver, CO such as flies, so when we moved last fall any insect presented a serious problem. We told Madeline they presented no harm and just to say, "shoo bug." Well, to Madeline that meant any insect was a shoo-bug. So we....being Jeremy....has been requested 5-6x/day to kill any potential shoo-bug. If a piece of dirt looks as though it could be a shoo-bug, she requires him to remove it as well, just incase it evolves into a bug. A dead bug you ask? Well, of course they require a final swat to assure it's going nowhere. Yes, ants, flies, spiders....all shoo-bugs. The look on Madelines face is priceless when Jeremy goes to kill the shoo-bug. You would think that bug (or piece of dirt in some cases) was going to jump at Madeline.
The old saying, "kids say the darnest thing," is very accurate. Especially when it comes to Shoo-bugs in our house.
If you think Shoo-bugs present humor.....just wait until we fill you in on Madeline's appreciation, or lack there of, for birds. This morning she looked at the screen door at a bird on the deck and told it to stop talking....apparently she doesn't like birds chirping either. Crazy kid!
Luke? Well, he is doing great and taking to our family very well. He's a big fan of his sister, Madeline. He has a 4-month check up in a few weeks. Crazy how time flies! We're guessing he's about 15 lbs. now. He's a strong little tike and love, love, loves to talk to women.....I am nervous already. He made a visit to the University this week and wow, did he capture the hearts and smiles of the ladies on campus. I like to think I'm a lucky lady myself with 2 men in my life....even though there is almost a 35 year age gap between the two.

I like M&Ms.....
...why yes I have been potty training.
The M&Ms are pretty good, but the suckers for #2 rock.

We were "THAT" family....
....why yes, we were "that" family this past weekend.
I can now say, as a parent, I will think twice before judging a family with a similar situation.
We went to church Saturday evening.
Madeline went potty right before we left for church. (yes we are in potty training mode)
Luke had eaten right before we left. (full belly means sleepy baby)
We sat in the second to last row....just in case.
My logic seemed perfect.....and then it backfired.....big time.
Within the first 10 minute Madeline announced she had to go the the bathroom and not #1, the other one....so off we took to the bathroom. No success. 10 minutes later Madeline announced she had to go to the bathroom again, a little louder this time, so off we went again. No success, dang. Back to our seats. 10 minutes later, we smelled gas and Madeline announced (rather loud) she had to go the bathroom, so off we went to the bathroom. No luck....dang. Yes, 10 minutes later Madeline said she had to go again....Jeremy took her to the bathroom....Madeline fell in....just her bottom, but she went "swimming" and no, no luck....crap. We then played the gambling game and said no more going to the bathroom and started to pray (we were in chuch so I was sure the message would get to God quicker) that Madeline didn't have an accident.
....10 minute later while walking up to communion, Luke woke up.....and not gracefully....one step away from communion and the little guy let's out a blood-wrenching cry.....the lady just looks at me and I smile and say Amen, I'm outta here....and off Luke and I go to the back to find a room so it doesn't sound like the little guy is being murdered since everything echos there.
The poor families sitting in the last row must have wondered.
So yes, we were "THAT" family. I can only imagine what this weekend holds.
I can say though, I will think twice before judging the family who is up and down with a child at church....when you're potty training you do what you have to do!

A party like no other....
So much to update you all on…
I am getting a PURPLE bedroom...I don’t know when exactly, but I saw the house and it sure looks neat. Mom and Dad made an offer on a short sale house….I’m not really sure why they call it a short sale because it might take a year before we get to move. Anyway, I will have a purple bedroom and Luke is getting a blue one. It will have fenced yard and a swing set too! I’m pretty excited about it and so are mom and dad. They can’t wait to move again; apparently they had so much fun last year packing we are going to do it this year. Mom and Dad hope it’s the last move for awhile.
I am in dance class, Tippi Toes really. I love to dance and twirl. My big dance recital is coming up but I have to miss it because we will be in North Carolina for a wedding mom is in. I wonder if I can wear my dance costume to the wedding since I’ll miss the recital. Mom says no, but I’ll work on her so I can wear it.
I went to my first princess themed birthday party for a friend from daycare turning 5. It was really fun and mom bought a present for me to share. She thought she was being sneaking by buying a gift on clearance. We thought the party would be pretty simple, but wow, were we in for a rude awakening and mom reconsidered her $8 clearance gift. When we pulled up to the development of the party we read a sign that said the home development prices ranged from $500,000-$1,000,000….that’s the starting price….ugh, mom thinks she should have increased her gift amount. Oops! Anyway, not only was this a REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, nice housing development that we didn’t know existed, but the party had a real princess….Sleeping Beauty there. Yes, mom said she was a professional actress with voice training, but I think she was the real deal. They sure set the bar high for birthday parties! Mom says the $1.00 cake mix for cupcakes looks pretty pathetic now….that’s what she typically does for me.

There are never too many cooks in the kitchen….I’ve been helping mom and dad cook. Lately I have been exploring pasta recipes. Check out the photo of me learning about pasta. It was really easy to dump out and took a bit more work to clean up.

Professional painter….of fingernails. I have been practicing painting finger nails lately. I think I’m pretty good, what do you think?

We took a trip to IA to visit Uncle Tom’s family over the weekend and it sure was fun. ON the way back we stopped and visited some other relatives in Iowa City…good thing we stopped because I ended up with the stomach flu…one word, YUCK! It was nice Mike and Pat let us stay there overnight. 24 hours later we were on the road again. I’m still not 100%, but at least I’m at home now.
Tomorrow is a big day around here…Mom heads back to work. I think she’s ready, well as ready as she can be. I know she loved spending time at home with Luke and me of course, but it’s time to get back to work. Mom says it’s nice Luke will be with Daddy so she isn’t taking him to daycare yet.
Yes, Luke is still around. He is going to be my BIG little brother in no time. At 2 months I was 10 lb. 10 oz. Luke on the other hand is 13 lb. 4 oz. and 22 inches long. He likes to smile at me and I can get him to stop crying when he is fussy.
As you can see from the picture, Luke really loves me.

Mom says everyone likes a boy who shows a little skin....I don't know if this should count for Luke...he has a lot of rolls....

Okay, I should get going. There is so much to do as a big sister.

Best Big Sister Ever...

HOLA Friends!
It’s me, Madeline! I sure have been busy as a Big Sister! It’s a tough job, but I’ve stepped up and adjusted rather well…..for a 2 year old. I’ve learned a lot about being a big sister and I think Mom and Dad really appreciate, no they LOVE, my help.

Here are some of the things I help with around the house:
Diapers – I don’t let mom or dad throw away Luke’s diapers. That’s MY job and I throw a fit if I don’t get to do it. Luke is going to use cloth diapers like me, but right now they are really big on him so he has to wait awhile. If you ask me, he looks like a pear when he wears them….and he can’t rest his legs on the ground because they elevate his butt in the air…it’s kind of funny.
Burping – It might be the one way to “hit” my brother without getting in trouble. Just kidding, I’m actually pretty gentle. (for the record, I haven’t “hit” my brother or thrown anything at him yet…although last night Luke’s head may have been in the way when I was practicing my golf swing…he stopped crying now)
Feeding – Even though mom is nursing Luke, I did give him a bottle a couple of times. On a side note, I’m a really good help at operating the milk pumping machine….I think mom really appreciates my help with this….she always smiles/laughs when I help her pump milk.
Vibrator – Luke’s swing and bouncy chair have a vibrator on them and I’m the only one allowed to turn them on and off. Again, I get a little upset if anyone else does it because this is the job of a big sister.
Hugs and Kisses – I’m really good at giving Luke hugs and kisses….Mom and Dad don’t appreciate it when I kiss Luke when he’s sleeping (well, was sleeping). Apparently there is something called personal space but I don’t understand it. I think if I get really close to Luke’s face when he’s sleeping it helps me verify he’s doing okay, amazingly he frequently wakes up when I do this….I think he was just pretend sleeping. See, we already are playing games!
I like Baby Luke overall and think I’ll keep him around for awhile.

Other things happening around here…..
Grandma and Grandpa Gacnik came to visit. They brought me more presents; in case you didn’t know, I love presents. I trained Grandma how to “shop” with my kitchen toys and play house. We did this all day long for about 4 days. She’s pretty good at it. I also helped Grandma and Grandpa learn how to do puzzles. I really like puzzles. I’m up to 12 and 16 piece puzzles now and absolutely LOVE them.
Cold virus – The cold virus worked through our house. I had it , mom had it, Luke now has it and Dad is getting it. It really wasn’t fun….especially since I just got over Strep Throat. I don’t remember if Luke told you how I got sick right after he came home from the hospital. That time Grandma and Grandpa Kiefer were here to help out. Mom and Dad joke that we’ve had more sickness since moving to MN….but thinking about it, it’s no joke because we really have had more sickness since getting here.
On the upside….well, downside, it’s was -10 degrees this morning….that’s super cold if you ask me!
Until Later –
The Best Big Sister Ever - Madeline
ps. mom and dad are doing well and using toothpicks to keep their eyes open...I think they party with Luke when I go to bed at night because Luke sleeps alot during the day to make up for his late nights!
pss. when I say my Luke's nickname is Moose, you now will understand why from the picture below.

Oh brother....
...so the new kid in town is pretty okay by me. I must admit though, I am helping him consider his career options. The video below shows two ideas I came up with and mom helping him practice. One is a frog so when his princess comes along she'll have to kiss him....I like to think it will be along time before any girl is willing to kiss a frog. The second career option is a astronaut...let's send him to outer space. It's a good thing Luke has me here to help him out with these important decisions. (in all honesty, he is a pretty cool baby brother so I'm just joking about turning him into a frog or sending him to outer space) Madeline

Did someone say presents?
Hello again, this is Lucas. I'm 15 days old and having a blast. I just wanted to show you a quick video Dad took of me. With Christmas only a day away, I've been working on building my neck strength. Mom and Dad tried to hide the presents from me, but when I pick my head up, I can see them under the tree. Now....if only I could figure out how to get over there to open them up. Maybe my really cool big sister Madeline will carry me over there when Mom and Dad aren't looking. Too bad she's sleeping already. Maybe tomorrow!!!! Sorry if the video comes out sideways. I showed Dad how to work his phone's camera like a 100 times, but I guess he still needs a little help. Sometimes I wonder about the guy. I hope everyone has a great Christmas and has as much fun opening presents as I will. Love, Lucas

It's a Boy!!!!!!!
dadadadadadadada…….Wait…..Ok, I think I got this typing thing down……Is this thing on…..Ok, here we go! Happy Birthday to Me, Happy Birthday to Me….Happy Birthday to Luke, Happy birthday to Me!!!!
I’d like to introduce myself to all of our family and friends out there. While I haven’t met most of you yet, Mom and Dad talk so highly of everyone that I can’t wait to meet you all. My name is Lucas “Luke” John Gacnik and I was born 12/08/11 at 11:05pm. I weighed 8 lbs – 2 ounces, and measured 18.5-inches long. I know I wasn’t supposed to make my arrival until closer to Christmas, but I thought, “Why Wait?” The sooner I get home, the sooner I can open presents. I heard my sister Madeline wanted to open my presents before I was born and I couldn’t let that happen. I think I’m getting a head of myself, though. Let me telling you briefly about the day Mom and Dad met me for the first time!

On December 8th (a Thursday I think if I remember the days of the week correctly), Mom’s belly started to get really tight during the day. This made sleeping uncomfortable for me as I kept feeling like I was getting pushed and squeezed. My little home was getting too small as it was. I heard mom call the doctor for their opinion. I think she was told to relax and drink lots of water. I don’t think it helped at all. Mom brought me home from work a little early that day and we laid on the couch together. Before coming home, Mom called dad and told him he better pack a bag because she thought I might be arriving today. I later found out that Dad packed Mom’s bag in record time! After being home for a while, Mom’s belly kept getting tighter and tighter more frequently. Mom and Dad decided to take me to the hospital.

Since I wasn’t suppose to arrive this early, Grandma and Grandpa Kiefer hadn’t arrived to watch my big sister yet. On the way to the hospital, we dropped Madeline off at her daycare provider Pat’s house. Pat was gracious and generous enough to watch Madeline for a couple days until Grandma and Grandpa could make the trip up from Iowa. While I was very anxious to meet my big sister, it would have to wait. Madeline was extremely excited to have a sleepover at Pat’s.
Ok…..back to the hospital. While we were there, the tightness in Mom’s belly kept coming stronger and more frequently. I didn’t like it very much and I know Mom wasn’t having much fun either. At around 10:00 at night, the doctor apparently told Mom and Dad that I was arriving tonight. YEAH!!!!!!!! I was going to meet Mom and Dad for the first time. Mom’s surgery and my arrival went great. I think mom and dad almost cried when they heard me testing out my little lungs. They seemed to like my head of hair as well.

I spent the next few days in the hospital meeting a lot of really nice people and getting a lot of attention. It was great. I used my charm and even put the moves on some of the nurses. I think I have a few dates lined up already. Maybe I’ll have them drive!

I met my big sister Madeline for the first time. She was very excited to see me and gave me lots of hugs and kisses. She even took me for a walk around the hospital which was very fun. She didn’t like when I cried, though. I also got to meet Grandma and Grandpa Kiefer, Uncle Tom, Aunt Mary, and my cousins Katelyn, Caleb and Hailey. They brought me nice gifts to play with and they all loved to hold and hug me. I loved it as well!

Now that we are at home, I seem to be getting a lot of attention here as well. Mom and Dad enjoy taking naps with me and I love to eat. Where has this milk been for the last nine months!!!! Grandma and Grandpa Kiefer are staying here as well to help out. Mom and Dad want to thank them very much! I heard I get to meet Grandma and Grandpa Gacnik in January too. My big sister has been amazing! She loves to hold me, give me kisses and help out with everything. When Mom or Dad changes my diaper, she gets to watch and throw the diaper away. She’s a great helper. She likes to tell everyone all about her baby brother Luke. I love my big sister, even though she got sick after we got home. I heard they had to take her to the doctor late at night. I think they said she had something called strep throat. It did not look like fun. I gave her extra kisses to help her feel better.

I’m not too crazy about my home yet, as it gets pretty cold. There are a lot of stairs as well, which will make it difficult for me to crawl around in time. Mom and Dad keep talking about a potential new home in our future, but they haven’t explained everything to me yet. I heard something about an offer, a short sale and maybe moving sometime next year. I’ll have to have my big sister fill you in later. She’s pretty smart and knows all about these types of things.
I’m sorry for writing so much, but I wasn’t sure when I would be able to get back on the computer again. My sister loves to play on the computer as well and I had to sneak on while she was napping. As I get older, I’ll have to have her show me all the fun games she plays.
I hope everyone has a great Christmas and Happy New Year! Here are a few pictures of my adventures over the last week. Don’t worry, though…….I’ll write more again soon!
Love,
Luke

Love,
Luke

Let's focus on me.....
....because soon I'll have to share the spotlight.
Lately I've been learning lots of new things. I've learned that my mommy is also called Julie and daddy is also called Jeremy. Mom and dad also say our last name is Gacnik, but I'm still working on saying that because it's tough.
I've also been teaching people what I like to be called. I have two names. Some people call me Madeline, but if you ask me what I want to be called, I have now been responding Maddie, because that's what my friends at daycare call me. So, that being said, you can call me Maddie or Madeline. Both are fine.
I wonder what the new baby will want to be called? I'm sure I'll come up with something since mom and dad still haven't decided. You'd think they would be a bit more prepared.
Other things I'm learning to say....the ABCs and 123s. Mom is teaching me how to say the 123s in Spanish too and then Dad says I'll learn it in Russian. That will be pretty cool. I love to sing....all the time. Sometimes when I go to bed I sing to myself, because no one can hear me....I'm certain mom and dad don't have the baby monitor on then....I just know it.
Well, that's all for now...keep your eyes on the blog because I'll let you know when my sibling arrives.

Just the important stuff....
..pictures....

On a side note, can you believe Dad made Mom and I tromp through waist-high snow (well, maybe one a few inches) today to cut down a Chistmas tree? That seems like an easy way to get the baby here before December 20...that's only 2 weeks away.
Also, have I mentioned I'm a little obsessed with Frosty the snowman....really, I like any/all snowmen. I have a book with frosty and we ready it at least 5 times a day, which I really don't think is enough.

I'm not 100% sold on this snow stuff...brrrrr....I feel in it today and gosh, it was cold!

Life as an only child...
....is nearing an end I'm told.
I'm not really sure what this means. I like to think the focus will still be on sweet, innocent, adorable, little me.....ha ha
Well, sorry for the delay in my blog posting. Life has been a little crazy around here lately.
I was sick for about 10 days...yep, I couldn't go to daycare of anything. I had a fever of 102-103 for 6 days and then I got these sores on my face and in my mouth and my hands were puffy. Turns out, hand, foot and mouth disease. I don't recommend it; it wasn't fun at all. I lost 2 lbs. over the course of the 10 days and was pretty cranky as you can imagine. But, I'm all better now. Life is good, my appetite is back and mom and dad are happy I'm doing better.
Grandma and Grandpa Gacnik came to visit for Thanksgiving. We had fun, we ate plenty of turkey and did tons of puzzles. I trained them well. I'll see them in January again after the new baby is born.

Today, we went and saw Santa.....when I say we saw Santa, I mean I walked by him but wasn't about to sit on his lap. I made some crafts and colored too....overall, it was pretty darn fun!
Well, I'm tired so I'm going to bed....actually, mom and dad tell me I'm going to bed whether I want to or not. So good night!

(as you can tell, I am practicing baking cheerio muffins since no one else will)

Mommy wow, I'm a big kid now!
You know the tune, "Mommy Wow! I'm a big kid now!"
Well, maybe I'm not a big kid, but I sure am growing up fast!
I decided 2 weeks ago I'd start potty training myself. Mom and dad weren't pushing it since the new baby is coming in 5 weeks, but I thought I'd see what it was all about. So after my nap I told mom I was going to sit on my "big girl potty" so I walked into the bathroom, shut the door on mom, pulled my pants down and took my diaper off. Mom said she was a little nervous what she would find when she opened the door 5 min. later, but low and behold I left a wet present in the potty for her. HA - take that lady! Mom and Dad were really excited about my accomplishment.
Then, later the same day I went again before my bath. Sometimes when I wake up in the morning I go in and go and sometimes I don't. I guess I don't know what's so "cool" about it yet. You see, when I'm playing with my toys why would I want to stop and take the time to go potty when my diaper will catch it all?! Don't worry, all in time.
Also, let's talk a bit more about dinner time. I can't remember if I've taught you about the new tradition we have here at our table, but I'll refresh your memory incase you've forgotten or I just haven't told you yet. I have started a new tradition which Grandma and Grandpa will soon be introduced to....to put it mildly, they will be experts at the Pledge of Allegiance by the time they leave from their visit. I require that we say our normal dinner prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance (which you have to say REALLY LOUD) and then the prayer we say at daycare before mealtime. Yes, your meal will have plenty of time to cool down with our new routine, but heck, I can now say we are very patriotic!
Other than that, life is moving along in Minnesota. We saw a few snow flurries last Thursday for all of 5 min. and it hardly counted, but they were flurries all the same.

I'm growing up fast. I can now count to 10 and am working on getting to 20. Also, I'm am obsessed with puzzles and my new favorites are the Mickey, Big Bird and Farm one. I have to help mom and dad with them because they are easily confused.
Oh yes, one last thing. I decided since the new baby is coming around Christmas that I should learn how to bake. So, here are a few pics of my masterpieces....you know it looks tasty. Just remember, you can never have too much flour and taste tests throughout the baking process are absolutely necessary....the cookie cutter of choice, Mickey (because he's my favorite!).

Well, that's all for now.

Sweet tooth of mine...
Mom says life is what happens to you, attitude is how you react. If you position things positively, then you’ll handle everything smoother. For example, mom was told she failed a glucose test and had to retake it. How did she handle this news? She baked 7 days straight until the follow-up test knowing if she failed again that she at least had consumed all the sugary treats possible. Well, what happened? She failed again! Something about gestational diabetes. Mom says it isn't that bad and could always be worse. So what does this mean for me? Well, mom and dad changed all of our meal plans to reduce the carbs/sugars…..I for one am not too sure I like this change, but I’m supportive and playing along. Don’t worry, I still get my sweet treats. Speaking of sweet, I have developed a slight sweet tooth. I figured since mom shouldn’t have any right now I should pick up the slack for the family.
Enough about Mom, let’s talk about me! A few weeks ago I went to another apple orchard, or as I call it and apple farm, to buy some apples. I also got to see a porcupine, raccoon, and a pig. Then, I got to go for a hayride. I offered to drive the tractor, because I really love tractors, but mom and dad said I had to be older. May next year?
Then, I went to a pumpkin patch to get a pumpkin. It was really tough finding the perfect one. I settled on 2 small ones and then 3 little baby ones I could carry in my own hand. They have been fun to marker on and paint. Speaking of pumpkins, Halloween came and went. I wasn’t a fan of it. I refused to wear my costume at daycare for the party and only put it on for 5 minutes that night to help dad build a new book shelf…..that was it. I didn’t want to do any trick or treating. I guess I’m the party pooper!
I went for a little road trip this past weekend with mom and dad. We went to UNI to see some friends and then I got to see my Uncle Tom and his family. I met a little boy named Logan…..I think he might be my new boyfriend, don’t tell dad though. It sure was fun playing with kids for the day. The nice thing was, the entire trip was a day trip.
We’ve been doing a bit of rearranging at our house. There is a pack’n’play set up, a new bedroom (with my old baby crib) ready, a baby swing and a new car seat. I’m getting used to seeing these things. I tried to convince mom and dad the swing was for me but they said only babies can use it. I guess this “baby” person really is going to make an appearance at some point. Mom and Dad say I'm in for a rude awakening when this "baby" person makes his/her debut...I have no idea what they are talking about. Mom and Dad also say I’ll have to share my blog….supposedly we’ll have a new “blogger.” We’ll see about that….we’ll see....
I’ll post some pics later from the Pumpkin Patch.
Love Madeline-
PS. Everyone gave us a hard time when we moved to MN because the weather gets really bad here in the winter. So far, it’s snowed 3 times in CO and the weather here has been beautiful. In fact, MN just broke a record for the 8th best fall in history…..Look who’s laughing now people….Look who’s laughing now!

A is for Apple....
I went to my first apple orchard and pumpkin patch and loved it.
I didn't exactly pick the apples from the tree, but I helped dad get them from a basket inside and put them in a bag. I treated the apples like a basketball and did a slam dunk when putting them in the bag, so dad took a few out....something about bruising them, etc. Oh well, he doesn't value free help quite yet.

They had some pretty slick stuff at the orchard though....chickens, goats, and turkeys. I spent alot of time focused on the chickens....they were all over the place and really cool. They also has a big bail of hay to climb on and a slide to come down on. I played on this quite awhile and had a ton of fun!!! We didn't get to go on the tractor ride since the line was really long and mom and dad were tired and needed a nap, but maybe next year.

Since buying all the apples mom has been busy in the kitchen...she jokes about being barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen all the time. She made apple crisp and and apple pie this weekend in addition to 2 pots of soup (chili and chicken w/ wild rice) and then tonight she's making banana bars for the people at work. She's a crazy "nesting" lady right now.
This weekend was kind of fun. Grandma and Grandpa came to visit for 1 night...not 1-2 weeks, but 1 night. Something about being 5 hours away allows for quick visits sometimes. It was fun playing with them; we had dinner, went to church and then had lunch today before they took off for IA. I sure enjoyed the visit and think living a little closer will work out just fine. I showed them my train set, played dolls and all sorts of stuff. Great weekend.
People kept telling us when we were moving the weather would be horrible....I'm not sure what they were talking about. It's been 80 degrees every day the past week and we've even had the air on a few times. From what I understand my old house in CO had almost 4 inches of snow yesterday....look who's laughing now people?!!!
Aside from that I guess I have one more story that I almost forgot....Mom and I fell down that stairs last weekend. Actually mom was carrying me down the stairs and slipped and we both came a tumbling down. Mom landed smack on her back, but did a really good job of not dropping me or letting go of the handrail. Of course it was Oct. 1, the first day our new insurance was effective and the insurance cards hadn't arrived yet and mom and dad hadn't lined up new doctors in MN. So, we visited a local family practice who confirmed the baby was still happy and healthy. Mom jokes saying the baby probably thought it was a joy ride and nothing to worry about. Mom on the other hand was a little sore for a few days. Dad, he's fine...he saw it happen and didn't know what to do since both Mom and I came a tumbling down. We know how to keep him on his toes.
Other than that, life is pretty mellow. Mom stopped running finally which might be good since she can't walk down stairs without falling down. :)
Love - Maddie (did I mention I like Oreos now?)

PS. I really like helping Daddy fix things so Grandma G. sent me a cool thing to help out...check it out. Thanks Grandma!

Transition....
....is happening all around us...
I'm transitioning to my new home and routine.
And, to my new potty chair which is by far the COOLEST thing ever invented. I like to sit on it an really crunch up my face like I'm in deep concentration. Then, after a couple seconds I look down to see if anything magically appeared. This photos is from the first day I got it....can you see my excitement? By the way, nothing magical has appeared yet....maybe tomorrow.

I'm transitioning to my NEW BED. It's pretty cool. I supervised Dad in the building process. I was the project manager who helped put parts together, read the instructions, test the strength for climbing purposes and tested the mattress. I really love it and don't plan on going back to my crib anytime soon.

I'm also transitioning into the house chef. It's about time I teach mom and dad a thing or two in the kitchen. I help all the time. I carry things from Mom to Dad or from Dad to Mom. Tonight I taught them how to make homemade empanadas. They sure are messy to make when teaching Mom and Dad how to make them, but they have to learn sometime. I think they turned out pretty well considering I ate all of mine and Mom and Dad sure didn't complain about their meals.

Transitioning....the roughest transition is getting up early for daycare. Mom and Dad wake me now, yup the first time in 2-3 years mom and dad are setting an alarm clock because I like to sleep until 7. Now they wake me at 6:30 to get ready for daycare. Speaking of daycare, it's going okay but I don't have any new boyfriends yet. There is a boy named Nate, but we're just friends. Overall, I really have been a good tropper through this transition and am enjoying playing with new friends.
Okay, until later.
Madeline

(my new hat, scarf and mittens from my buddy Kelly in CO...they are awesome!!!)
ps. did you know the other day on the news they said there were 93 days until X-mas...I better start my shopping. Mom and Dad said I might get one present early this year....a new baby brother or sister....that sounds pretty cool as of now.
